Biography

Uther has ruled Camelot and its kingdom for at least twenty-one years. After discovering his wife Igraine De Bois was unable to bear a child to suceed the throne it appears he sent Gaius to the Isle of the Blessed to ask Nimueh for help. As a consequence of using magic Igraine had to die during the birth to preserve the balance of Life and Death (Excalibur)

Uther threw Nimueh from Court and killed all users of magic he could hunt down in The Great Purge. This ended with the capture of The Great Dragon, who was imprisoned under Camelot Castle to serve as an example.

Series 1

Uther is very much a tyrannical ruler who will stop at nothing to set things right in his eyes. Despite being presented with evidence he refuses to see some sorcery until it is right under his nose (Valiant) but orders the execution of an innocent handmaiden (The Mark of Nimueh) and a peaceful druid (The Beginning of the End). He escapes death just barely on three occasions during the series (A Remedy to Cure All Ills; Excalibur; To Kill the King).
