Mordred and Cerdan

It's been a while since I saw Mordred's first episode, and this is something that's been puzzling me - is it actually stated that Cerdan is Mordred's father? Just can't remember whether it was made clear or not, and for some reason I assumed that they were an unrelated mentor/apprentice pair.
