Do not fear my Lord. I never miss my target.
The Gleeman to Arthur Pendragon[src]

The Gleeman was a circus master and an assassin who arrived in Camelot around the time of Arthur's birthday, ostensibly to provide entertainment at Arthur's feast. In truth, he had been sent by Odin to assassinate Arthur.

Biography[]

When the celebration began, he tricked Arthur into participating in a circus act which involved being strapped to a spinning wheel and the Gleeman attempting to use a knife to strike an apple in his mouth. Arthur survived the performance, and ate the apple in the process. Unbeknownst to him, however, the apple had been drugged with a sedative.

Later that night, Arthur visited his father's chambers. The Gleeman knocked out/killed the nearby guards and attacked Arthur, who had become too drowsy to defend himself. He had Arthur at his mercy and prepared to kill him, but Uther appeared and fought the Gleeman himself. A sword fight broke out and Uther eventually managed to best the assassin, but he was mortally wounded by one of the assassin's daggers before killing him.

Uther died from his injuries days later, due to the act of Agravaine de Bois and Morgana Pendragon in ensuring that Merlin's healing spell would fail.

Ultimately, he was responsible for the death of Uther Pendragon, whom he mortally wounded when trying to kill Arthur. However, the attempt cost him his own life as well (The Wicked Day).

Personality[]

The Gleeman was a cynical and cold man. He was deceptively intelligent and would stop at nothing to complete his mission. The Gleeman was also exceptionally self-confident and believed himself capable of defeating Uther Pendragon, who was himself a tremendously talented swordsman.

Abilities[]

The Gleeman was a master of knife throwing, able to throw the weapons with perfect accuracy. He was accurate enough to effortlessly throw a knife into an apple in Arthur's mouth from an impressive distance. He was also a fairly talented swordsman, being able to contend against Uther Pendragon and repeatedly cause him to lose his balance, although he eventually perished at the hands of the king. However, he managed to strike down Uther at the same time with one of his knives.
