Single Combat is a duel between two single warriors, either as a result of a formal challenge or, in times of war, as representatives of opposing armies.
Rules & Procedure[]
A knight will typically issue a challenge by throwing a gauntlet on the ground. If they have a specific opponent in mind, they will toss the gauntlet at their feet. Otherwise, any knight who wants to may accept the challenge.
According to the Knight's Code, once a challenge has been accepted, the knight must see it through themself. Another knight cannot take their place (Excalibur).
The Code also states that women are not prohibited from issuing a challenge (The Sins of the Father).
In the event of war, the right of single combat may be invoked in place of a battle. The warring kingdoms each choose a champion to represent their army in a duel, with the outcome accepted as the battle's outcome (His Father's Son).
