The Sidhe Elder was one of several elders who ruled over the Sidhe in Avalon. He was killed in a duel with Merlin.
Biography[]
The Sidhe Elder banished Aulfric and Sophia from Avalon after Aulfric was found guilty of killing another Sidhe. Hoping to buy Sophia's return to Avalon, Aulfric attempted to sacrifice the soul of Prince Arthur Pendragon to the elders, but he and Sophia were killed by Merlin before the ceremony was complete (The Gates of Avalon).
The Sidhe Elder turned the infant Princess Elena of Gawant into a changeling as part of a plot to one day gain control of the throne of Camelot. He sent his pixie servant, Grunhilda, to watch over Elena as her nursemaid and to keep the Sidhe inside her dormant with pixie dust.
Twenty years later, the Sidhe Elder's plan nearly came to fruition when a marriage was arrange between Elena and Arthur. However, after Grunhilda informed him of Merlin's interference, the Sidhe Elder decided to eliminate Merlin by killing him in his sleep. Merlin woke up during the attack and killed the Elder with a Sidhe Staff that had once had belonged to Sophia. He later used the staff to kill Grunhilda and the Sidhe inside Elena, foiling the Elder's plan (The Changeling).

The Sidhe Elder was cunning, deceitful, and callous. When Aulfric was declared guilty of killing another Sidhe, the Elder impassively enforced his banishment and exiled his daughter Sophia alongside him, though she had committed no crime. He also threatened Grunhilda with death if she failed in caring for Elena.
The Elder was also shown to be intelligent, astute, and patient. He turned the infant Princess Elena into a changeling as part of a twenty-year plot to install a Sidhe Queen on the throne of Camelot, a plan which nearly succeeded.
Like his fellow Sidhe, the Elder cared nothing for mortal beings, viewing them as weak and feeble. When he decided to kill Merlin to keep him from interfering with his plans, he personally took it upon himself to do so, thinking that Merlin was nothing more than a serving boy. His arrogance and hubris ultimately cost him his life, as Merlin proved to an immensely powerful sorcerer who killed the Elder in a duel (The Gates of Avalon, The Changeling).
Abilities[]
As a ruler of his people, the Sidhe Elder was an exceptionally powerful creature of magic. Like all Sidhe, he was immortal and possessed powerful magic. He could also move too fast for the naked eye to see, as Merlin needed to use magic to counter his moves during their duel.
Like most Sidhe, the Elder channeled his magic through a Sidhe Staff. He was able to use it to cast stunning spells and lethal blasts of magical energy. However, it also was defenseless against other Sidhe Staffs, as exploited by Merlin (The Changeling).

- It is unknown why the Sidhe Elder was okay with Aulfric sacrificing Arthur when Arthur was vital to his plot to place Sidhe Queen on the throne of Camelot (The Gates of Avalon, The Changeling).
