Queens are female monarchs who rule over kingdoms. Some come into their power through marriage, while others inherit the throne from their father or husband, or seize power through the act of conquest.
As the highest power in the land, a queen holds despotic authority over state affairs and oversees the running of their kingdom with the help of their advisors. Their crown and rich dress symbolize their position.
The male equivalent or consort of a queen is a King.
