Pyres are structures, usually made of wood, that are used for burning a body as part of a funeral rite or execution.

Guinevere was to be burned on a pyre when she was sentenced to death for practicing magic. However, she was later exonerated when Gaius uncovered evidence that Nimueh was responsible (The Mark of Nimueh).

Edwin Muirden's parents, Gregor and Jaden, were burned on a pyre during the Great Purge. Edwin was a child at the time and was severely burned trying to rescue them from the flames, leaving his face permanently scarred (A Remedy to Cure All Ills).

After Merlin's childhood friend William was killed during the Battle of Ealdor, his body was burned on a funeral pyre (The Moment of Truth).

Gaius was nearly burned on a pyre after Aredian coerced him into confessing that he was a sorcerer. However, Arthur stopped Gaius' execution and he was later exonerated when it was discovered that Aredian had framed him (The Witchfinder).

Gwen was to be burned on a pyre when she was sentenced to death for enchanting Arthur. However, she was later exonerated when Merlin, disguised as Dragoon the Great, confessed to enchanting both her and Arthur.

Merlin was nearly burned in Gwen's place when he was unable to break the ageing spell he used to disguise himself. However, Gaius was able to slip Merlin the spell's antidote during his march to the pyre. Merlin then used his magic to ignite the structure and escaped in the chaos that followed (Queen of Hearts).

After Lancelot sacrificed himself to banish the Dorocha, a funeral pyre was constructed in his honour in the castle courtyard. His cloak and sword were burned in lieu of a body (The Darkest Hour).

Valdis was nearly burned on a pyre after her village sentenced her to death for practicing magic. However, Arthur rescued her when he realised that she had not received a fair trial (The Death Song of Uther Pendragon).
