It's poisoned! Don't drink it!
Merlin to Arthur[src]

Nimueh's Chalice is a goblet used by the High Priestess Nimueh in an an attempt to assassinate Merlin.

History[]

Prior to the signing of a peace treaty between the kingdoms of Camelot and Mercia, Nimueh poisoned a chalice with a petal from an enchanted mortaeus flower. She then posed as a serving girl in Bayard's entourage in order to switch the poisoned goblet with one of a pair meant as gifts for Uther and Arthur Pendragon.

Later, during a feast celebrating the peace treaty, Nimueh told Merlin that Bayard had poisoned the chalice in an attempt to kill Arthur. Merlin stopped him from drinking from the goblet and accused Bayard of poisoning it, prompting Uther to command Merlin to drink from the goblet himself in order to prove his assertion. Merlin did so and quickly collapsed, at which point Bayard and his entourage were arrested (The Poisoned Chalice).

Merlin indirectly mentioned this event the next time he encountered Nimueh (Le Morte d'Arthur). He also later mentioned it during his rant to Gaius (The Once and Future Queen).
