A tradgic character Mary Collins is an old witch who witnesses the execution of her Son, after which he promises revenge on Uther by killing his son. She vanishes into the wind and is carried to an unknown destination with her magic. She weilds an amber necklace which she draws focus and magical power from in her spells, songs of power and magical practises.
She kills Lady Helen with a Poppet and takes her form, though mirrors and reflective surfaces show her true form.
Mary Collins in the form of Lady Helen kills a servant by humming a tune of power draining the life from her. She sings to the court weaving a sleeping enchantment that seems to effect more than people. The candle flames go out and spider webs form over the tables and people, reminicent of sleeping beauty. However when she gets to Arthur Merlin uses his magic to cause a chandelier to fall on her, before she dies she uses her last breath to hurl a knife at Arthur but Merlin slows his perception of time and saves Arthur's life.
Though she uses her magic to harm people, including those who have caused her no harm the loss of her son deeply effects her and we do not know what sort of sorceress she was before this time, she may have been a healer etc it is not known. But one this is clear Uther's hatred has made him many powerful enemies and it takes another Sorcerer (Merlin) to combat the damamge Uther makes.
