The Lead Box is an octagonal wooden box lined with lead. The Goblin that Merlin accidentally released had been trapped inside it for more than 50 years.
History[]
Merlin found the lead box in a hidden chamber in the Royal Library. When he discovered that something was trapped inside, he used his magic to open it and accidentally released the Goblin, who had been imprisoned in it for more than 50 years.
The Goblin soon began causing trouble by stealing valuable objects, playing pranks on members of the court, and taking possession of Gaius' body. When Merlin and Gwen finally forced the Goblin to leave Gaius, Merlin trapped it back in the box it came from and Uther ordered it to be placed in the castle vaults, where no one would ever open it (Goblin's Gold).
