Sir John Vincent Hurt CBE was an acclaimed English character actor who provided the voice of Kilgharrah in the BBC series Merlin. He also served as the title narrator for the show as well, for which he was credited for all episodes even when the Great Dragon was absent.

Hurt's career dated back to the 1960s and has included appearances in many iconic films and TV series, including I, Claudius, the first Alien film, Watership Down, 1984, and V for Vendetta. He also played the War Doctor in the 50th anniversary celebration of Doctor Who. He played Mr. Ollivander in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and reprised the role in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 and 2 and Professor Oxley in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
