Jarl was a slave trader who worked the western border of Cenred's Kingdom. He operated out of an abandoned castle with the unofficial sanction of King Cenred until his death at the hands of Morgause.
Biography[]
Jarl began working the western border of Cenred's Kingdom several months before the Fall of Camelot. He captured Gwaine at some point after Arthur's quest for the Fisher King's trident, and later captured Merlin and Arthur during their quest to find the Cup of Life.
Soon after Merlin and Arthur woke in the bell of his castle, Jarl decided that he wanted to see a fight and chose Merlin to fight Gwaine, who was his current champion. When Arthur volunteered to fight in Merlin's place, Jarl allowed it, but stated that if Arthur lost, he would feed Merlin to the crows piece by piece.
Jarl decreed that Arthur and Gwaine were to fight to the death, but Merlin intervened by using his magic to set some ropes hanging above the crowd on fire. The trio escaped in the confusion, leaving Jarl greatly angered. However, his mood soon lifted when he searched Arthur's confiscated bag and found a pouch of coins and a note identifying him as the Prince of Camelot.
Jarl later visited King Cenred and informed him of where Arthur and his companions were heading. When he requested some compensation for his time and trouble, Morgause used her magic to throw him into a wall, killing him (The Coming of Arthur).
