The House of Northumbria was a distinguished noble family whose lineage Merlin copied for Lancelot to use. Its genuine members included Lord Eldred of Northumbria and his four sons. The family coat of arms depicted a blue and red shield with crossed swords, gold and blue leaf supporters and a helm adorned with a rearing white horse crest. The family motto read Virtus veneratio fidelitas (strength, honour, faith).
