Where's Arthur? Where is he? You can't leave him out there, he'll be torn apart!"
"You can't go out there, sire! If you open that door, you will die! We will all die!
Uther and Sir Geraint[src]

Sir Geraint was a Knight of Camelot. He acted as Arthur's second-in-command during Cornelius Sigan's attack on Camelot.

Biography[]

Sir Geraint acted as Arthur's second-in-command during Cornelius Sigan's attack on Camelot. He helped defend the citadel from Sigan's animated gargoyles, then led the Knights to safety after Arthur ordered their retreat. Geraint stopped to wait for Arthur, who was battling one of the creatures, but followed the rest of the Knights into the citadel after Arthur ordered him to save himself.

In Arthur's absence, Geraint took charge and ordered the Knights to seal the doors. Uther objected because Arthur was still outside, but Geraint overruled his orders and even restrained him at one point when he tried to run outside (The Curse of Cornelius Sigan).

Trivia[]

  • Sir Geraint was initially intended to be a recurring character and Arthur's second-in-command, as he was given a prominent speaking-part and had several promotional shots taken of him. However, this role was ultimately given to Sir Leon, who was introduced in the following episode.

In the Legend[]

Geraint was a Knight of the Round Table in Arthurian legend. His most famous role is as the protagonist of the Welsh romance Geraint and Enid, where he is depicted as the son of King Erbin of Dumnonia and courts and marries the beautiful Enid.

In the legend, Geraint meets Enid while on a mission to defeat a cruel knight. They fall in love and marry, but rumours soon begin to spread that Geraint has forsaken his chivalric duties for domestic bliss. Enid blames herself and sobs that she has ruined his reputation, but Geraint misunderstands her comment to mean that she has been unfaithful to him.

Angered, Geraint forces Enid to accompany him on a long and arduous journey. He forbids her to speak to him, but Enid repeatedly disregards his command to warn him of danger. Several adventures follow that prove Enid's love and Geraint's fighting ability and the couple is happily reconciled.
