The Coronation of Queen Morgana refers to the coronation where Morgana Pendragon was crowned Queen of Camelot after the Fall of Camelot.
Events
Morgana's coronation was held in the immediate aftermath of the Fall of Camelot. It took place in the throne room and was attended by her half-sister Morgause, their immortal army, and the deposed King Uther. Merlin and Arthur also witnessed the ceremony in secret while hiding on the balcony.
Uther was forced to kneel before the dais while Morgana took her place on his throne. The officiant, Geoffrey of Monmouth, was then shoved forward by Morgana's soldiers to declare her Queen of Camelot and place a crown upon her head, after which the soldiers forced Uther to bow to her (The Coming of Arthur).
Trivia
- Morgana did not have a second coronation after the Second Fall of Camelot (The Sword in the Stone).
- Morgana is the only Queen of Camelot to win her title through conquest, and the only monarch to conquer the same kingdom twice (The Coming of Arthur, The Sword in the Stone).
- Morgana's crown is very similar in appearance to Guinevere's, the main difference being that Morgana's is set with red gemstones and Gwen's with purple (The Coming of Arthur, The Sword in the Stone).
