Morgause's Cave is a cave in the Darkling Woods that Morgause used as a hideout after Morgana returned to Camelot. Its entrance was guarded by the Blood Guard while she was in residence.
History[]
Morgause used the cave as a hideout after Morgana returned to Camelot as a spy. The cave contained a large cauldron that Morgause used to brew the mandrake root potion that she and Morgana used to drive Uther mad.
Morgana returned to the cave each night to inform Morgause of Camelot's activities and to obtain a fresh root to place beneath Uther's bed, but was forced to stop after Merlin discovered what she was doing (The Tears of Uther Pendragon).
Trivia[]
- It is unknown whether Morgause abandoned the cave in the aftermath of the Great Battle for Camelot (The Tears of Uther Pendragon).
- It is possible that this cave is where Morgana spent the year following her poisoning and Morgause's failed invasion of Camelot (The Fires of Idirsholas, The Tears of Uther Pendragon).
