The city has fallen. Camelot is ours.
Helios to Morgana[src]

Morgana's Second Reign followed the Second Fall of Camelot. After she and Helios conquered Camelot with their Southron army, Morgana seized the throne from Arthur Pendragon and declared herself Queen.

History

Conquering Camelot

Cap-00004

Morgana, Helios, and their army march to the citadel.

Morgana and Helios invaded Camelot on the night of Beltane. While the court of Camelot attended the annual feast, Morgana's spy Lord Agravaine secured the siege tunnels and led an advance guard of Southrons in infiltrating the citadel and setting fire to the Lower Town. This was the signal for the rest of the army to approach.

With many of Camelot's Knights at the feast and the rest preoccupied with the fire, the Southrons quickly took control of the Lower Town and advanced on the citadel. Though Arthur and his knights mounted a valiant defense, the castle was soon overrun and Morgana took her place on the throne of Camelot, declaring herself Queen.

When they learned that Arthur and his allies had escaped, Morgana, Agravaine, and a contingent of Southrons chased them into the woods on horseback. She knocked the group off their feet with a stunning spell and later captured Elyan when he stayed behind to fight off the Southrons pursuing them on foot, but Arthur and Merlin successfully escaped (The Sword in the Stone).

Morgana's Reign

Morgana rules Camelot with Helios by her side.

With Camelot under Southron control, Morgana took her place on the throne and declared herself Queen. When the people of Camelot refused to swear allegiance to anyone but Arthur, she retaliated by burning their crops.

Any Knights or court members who failed to escape were captured or killed. Some, such as Gwaine, Elyan, and Gaius, were imprisoned together in the castle dungeons, where they endured torment and starvation.

Because Elyan had been captured trying to escape with Arthur, Morgana used a Nathair serpent to torture him for information about Arthur's whereabouts. When Elyan finally revealed that Arthur planned to seek sanctuary in Ealdor, Morgana sent Agravaine and a small army of Southrons to find him.

Morgana also tortured Gwaine by forcing him to fight for her army's amusement. He was rewarded with scraps of moldy bread that he gave to Gaius, who was sick and starving (The Sword in the Stone).

Arthur's Rebellion

Morgana realizes that her magic has been blocked.

When Morgana received word that Agravaine and his men had been killed by a man commanding a dragon, she was convinced that it could only be the work of her destined enemy Emrys and became increasingly paranoid.

Meanwhile, Arthur and his Knights and allies regrouped in the Forest of Ascetir, where he claimed the sword Excalibur and decided to retake Camelot.

The night before the attack, Merlin snuck into the citadel disguised as an old man and cast an enchantment to temporarily block Morgana's magic. Morgana recognized him as Emrys as he was leaving, causing her to spiral further into paranoia.

The next morning, Arthur and his knights and allies infiltrated the citadel. While most of the knights focused on fighting the Southrons and freeing their prisoners, a small group led Arthur fought their way to the throne room to confront Morgana and Helios. Morgana tried to attack Arthur with her magic, but discovered that her powers were blocked. Devastated, she fled from the room and began fighting her way through the citadel with a sword.

Helios fought Arthur while his Southron warriors held off Tristan and Isolde. He quickly gained the upper hand due to Arthur's injuries, but Isolde stopped him from killing Arthur by stabbing him from behind. Helios fatally wounded her as he fell.

Meanwhile, Gwen and Merlin chased after Morgana. Gwen found her in the corridors and they had a brief duel that ended with Morgana disarming Gwen. Merlin saved her by knocking Morgana away with a stunning spell, after which Morgana teleported herself to safety (The Sword in the Stone).

Aftermath

MOrgana Aithusa

Aithusa flies off after healing Morgana.

In the aftermath of Morgana's reign, Arthur reclaimed the throne and Camelot began its recovery. The damage done to the citadel and the Lower Town were repaired, and Gwaine, Elyan, and Gaius fully recovered from their time in the dungeons.

Soon afterwards, Arthur married Guinevere and crowned her Queen of Camelot.

Meanwhile, after Morgana escaped from the citadel, she found herself alone and injured in a forest. She briefly encountered a baby dragon who healed her injuries and then flew away (The Sword in the Stone).
