You're a thief."
"Wasn't that obvious when you caught me stealing your grain?
Arthur and Evan[src]

Evan was a peasant who lived in Camelot during the reign of Uther Pendragon. He assisted Anhora with the tests required to lift the Curse of the Unicorn.

Biography[]

After the Curse of the Unicorn killed Camelot's crops, Evan was caught stealing grain from the castle stores. Though the king had decreed that all looters were to be executed, Arthur let Evan go and gave him a bag of grain to take home to his family. Grateful, Evan told Arthur that his mercy and generosity would bring its own reward, and the next day water returned to Camelot's wells.

Arthur later ran into Evan in the forest outside Camelot, where he was revealed to be a thief. Evan insulted Arthur for believing the story about his starving children and began taunting him about his worthiness to be king. Eventually, Arthur grew angry enough to attack Evan and killed him. As he struck the fatal blow, however, Evan vanished and was replaced by Anhora, who told Arthur that his willingness to kill a man in defense of his pride would cost Camelot dearly (The Labyrinth of Gedref).

Trivia[]

  • It is unknown whether Evan was a real person or an illusion or disguise conjured by Anhora (The Labyrinth of Gedref).
    • He spoke similarly to Anhora after Arthur gave him some grain and later vanished in the same manner that Anhora often did.
    • However, after Arthur killed Evan, Anhora spoke of him as though he were a separate person.
