Earth Spells are incantations used to manipulate the element of earth, including rocks, minerals, and plants.
The element of earth is often associated with endurance and strength. Magic used to bind the earth is said to be delicate and easily undone, and the Dochraid, a creature of the earth, has called upon its strength to heal herself.
History[]
The Curse of the Unicorn filled Camelot's wells with sand.
Nimueh combined the elements of earth and water to create the Afanc (The Mark of Nimueh).
After luring him into the Caves of Balor, Nimueh used two earth spells to cause the ground to collapse from beneath Arthur's feet (The Poisoned Chalice).
When the Unicorn's Curse caused Camelot's crops to wither and its wells to fill with sand, Merlin tried to turn the sand into water. Later, after he followed Arthur to the Labryinth of Gedref, Anhora bound Merlin with roots (The Labyrinth of Gedref).
After Catrina trapped him behind a mountain of rubble, Merlin used his magic to blast a hole through the rocks (Beauty and the Beast).
Merlin used his magic to conjure a flower for Freya (The Lady of the Lake).
When Arthur and the Knights of Camelot raided Alvarr's camp, Merlin conjured a root to trip Mordred and stop him from escaping (The Witch's Quickening).
When he and Arthur were cornered by mercenaries, Merlin triggered a rockslide to block the path and allow the king to escape (A Servant of Two Masters).
After Arthur and the Knights stumbled across a Druid Shrine, Gaius explained to Merlin that the Druids used spells to bind the earth and help spirits find peace. However, the magic was delicate and easily undone, and it was soon discovered that their trespass had released the spirit of a young Druid Boy that possessed Elyan (A Herald of the New Age).
Merlin triggered an earthquake to help Arthur, Mithian, Percival, and Rodor escape from Odin and Morgana's trap (Another's Sorrow).
When she kidnapped Guinevere, Morgana cast a spell that conjured venomous snakes from the womb of the earth (The Dark Tower).

After Merlin badly wounded her with the sword Excalibur, the Dochraid, a creature of the earth, called upon its strength to heal herself (With All My Heart).
When Merlin journeyed to the Crystal Cave to regain his magic, Morgana triggered a rockslide to trap him inside. Later, after discovering his true nature in the center of the cave, Merlin freed himself by blasting the rocks away from the entrance (The Diamond of the Day).
