Merlin practiced an animation spell on a granite statue of a dog and eventually brought it to life (Valiant).
Exercising Arthur's dogs was one of Merlin's jobs as his servant (Valiant).
Arthur and his men used dogs to track Merlin to the Druids' camp in the Forest of Ascetir (The Nightmare Begins).
