- “There are no rules, no weapons are banned. The last man standing takes the prize. Let the tournament begin.”
- — Morgana Pendragon[src]
The Decennial Tournament is a tournament held once a decade in the kingdom of Camelot. It is open to all comers, has no official rules, allows all manner of weapons but magic, and offers a prize of 100 gold coins.
Events[]
The Decennial Tournament functioned as a single-elimination contest where competitors engaged in one-on-one duels until only the victor remained. They were allowed to use any means to win, including methods normally considered cheating, and were even allowed to kill their opponents.
The only skill not allowed was magic, though no official rule banned its use.
The young sorcerer Gilli attempted to take advantage of this by secretly using his magic ring to give himself an advantage over his opponents. He killed his rival Nollar and later planned to kill Uther during the final round, but Merlin stopped Gilli by counteracting his magic with his own, allowing Uther to claim the victory (The Sorcerer's Shadow).
