A crossbow is a ranged weapon which is commonly used by warriors because of its power and accuracy. Crossbows are made from wood and metal and shoot arrow-like projectiles called bolts. They are used in battles, for assassinations, hunting animals and archery training sessions.
Uses[]
Battle[]
During the Battle of Ealdor, Kanan's brigands used crossbows while they were on horseback. Kanen attempted to kill Arthur with a crossbow but William stepped in front, saving the prince but loosing his own life (The Moment of Truth).
Guards and Knights of Camelot used crossbows in the raid of Aglain’s Druid camp in a misguided rescue attempt for Morgana (The Nightmare Begins). Gaius later discover crossbow bolts scattered around this, or a similar, raided druid camp which had been turned into a shrine to appease restless spirits (A Herald of the New Age).
While trying to fight off the Dragon Kilgharrah, the Knights of Camelot used crossbows, which proved to be ineffective as the dragon was able to dodge the bolts (The Last Dragonlord).
Camelot used crossbows again during the Kingdom of Camelot-Kingdom of Cenred war (The Tears of Uther Pendragon).
During Morgana's second reign, Arthur and Merlin were posing as smugglers. Agravaine eventually tracked them down, so they used crossbows to defend themselves (The Sword in the Stone).
Assassination and Execution[]

Guards of Camelot fired at Arthur and Sophia mistaking them for bandits. Arthur saves Sophia and chastised his guards (The Gates of Avalon).
The assassin Myror tried to kill Arthur with a crossbow but was unable to do so since the prince was not present. He later watched him and Gwen in Guinevere's house with the crossbow aimed at Arthur (The Once and Future Queen).
Arthur takes a crossbow with him when he searches for Morgana and Guinevere. He exchanges his sword for it when he hears noises in the trees which turn out to be Morgana (Lancelot and Guinevere).
Hengist threatens Arthur, Lancelot and Guinevere with a crossbow. Merlin prevents the attack (Lancelot and Guinevere).
Morgana orders her Immortal Army to threaten the Knights of Camelot and fire at the people of Camelot (The Coming of Arthur).
Julius Borden used a crossbow to attack the Knights of the Round Table and succeeded in hitting Percival in the leg before Merlin broke his crossbow (Aithusa).
Merlin, having been turned into an assassin by Morgana, asked Sir Leon for a crossbow so he could use it to kill Arthur. He found one, but Leon told him that it was ancient and probably wouldn't hurt a fly. He then gave Merlin what he called a "thing of beauty", carved from 50-year old ash. Merlin had an impressive shot when he disintegrated a barrel with the crossbow. When Merlin told Leon that he was going to use it to kill Arthur, he assumed he was just kidding (A Servant of Two Masters).
Elyan, when possessed by a druid spirit, used a crossbow to shoot and kill two guards who were protecting Arthur. Elyan also attempted to kill Arthur but Arthur stopped him (A Herald of a New Age).
Albin of Amata was hired by enchanted Gwen and the Sarrum to assassinate Arthur. Daegal and Merlin foil the attempt and Albin kills The Sarrum instead (The Hollow Queen)
Merlin is injured by a crossbow bolt or arrow fired by the Knights of Camelot when he was on his way to a clandestine meeting with Finna (The Kindness of Strangers).
Hunting[]

Arthur uses crossbow to hunt deer. He later used this crossbow to kill the robbers attacking Sophia and Aulfric Tir Mor (The Gates of Avalon).
When Arthur, Merlin, and a set of knights went hunting, Arthur used a crossbow to kill a Unicorn. This brought a terrible curse upon Camelot (The Labyrinth of Gedref).
The crossbow was also used when Arthur, Mithian and the knights went hunting. The deer turned out to be Gwen in disguise and she was shot in the leg (The Hunter's Heart).
Arthur, Merlin and the Knights of Camelot ride back from a hunting trip when they came across a patrol killed by Saxons, and possibly Kara, with crossbow bolts (The Drawing of the Dark).
