Changeling Enchantments are enchantments that turn a human child into a changeling. They are placed on a child at birth and are able to last for decades.
History[]
The Sidhe Elder turned the newborn Princess Elena into a changeling as part of a twenty-year plot to gain control over the throne of Camelot.
Their plan nearly came to fruition when a marriage was arranged between Elena and Prince Arthur, but Merlin and Gaius used a potion to break the enchantment before the wedding could take place (The Changeling).
Effects[]
Changeling enchantments allow a Sidhe to inhabit a human baby. The Sidhe appears to grow with the child until it becomes strong enough to possess them entirely, but can be kept dormant with the use of pixie dust.
Changelings are often clumsy and inelegant. Elena, for example, was constantly tripped over her own feet, had few social graces, and suffered from an excess of flatulence. She also demonstrated a taste for living creatures such as frogs and toads.
They only known way to break this enchantment to make the changeling ingest a potion created by the Witches of Meredor. When Elena drank this potion, she fell unconscious and began to convulse until the Sidhe fled from her body. Getting rid of the fairy cured Elena of her earlier afflictions and she became noticeably more elegant and graceful (The Changeling).
