Ceremonial Goblets were chalices presented by the Lord of Mercia to his allies as symbols of peace and friendship.
History[]
When Bayard travelled to Camelot to sign the Mercian Peace Accord, he presented Uther and Arthur Pendragon with a pair of ceremonial goblets. Bayard was unaware, however, that the goblet intended for Arthur had been replaced by one that had been poisoned by Nimueh. Her plot nearly destroyed the newfound peace between Mercia and Camelot when she convinced Merlin that Bayard had poisoned Arthur's goblet in an attempt to assassinate the prince (The Poisoned Chalice).
