Ari was a powerful Druid sorcerer. He was an ally of Morgana Pendragon until she subjected him to the Gean Canach, robbing him of his magic.
Biography[]
Ari allied himself with Morgana in her war against Camelot. Shortly before the Battle of Camlann, Morgana summoned him to her fortress and demanded he give a demonstration of his renowned magical skills. Ari objected that he wasn't an entertainer, but ultimately did as she asked by using his magic to extinguish some nearby braziers.
Morgana motioned for her Saxon guards to restrain Ari while another brought her the Gean Canach. Though he begged her for mercy, she ordered the creature to attack Ari, devouring his magic, and then demanded that he relight the braziers. Ari initially refused, as he was unwilling to humiliate himself before her, but did as she asked after she threatened the lives of his family. He incanted a spell to relight the braziers, but nothing happened. He broke down in tears as the guards took him away.
Later, Mordred questioned Morgana's decision by pointing out that Ari was a loyal soldier and that by robbing him of his magic, she'd lost a powerful ally. However, Morgana was unconcerned, as she now knew they could win the war by using the Gean Canach on Emrys (The Diamond of the Day).
